Officials said the turnout made it the university's largest ever career fair.
They said that to accommodate a growing number of employers interested in recruiting at thefair, the event was held at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell, the university's largest venue.
If they chose, participants could use a new mobile app that allowed job candidates to quickly locate recruiters inside the arena.
Prospective employers with representatives in Lowell Wednesday included Raytheon Co., Procter & Gamble, General Electric, City Year, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Fidelity Investments.
The event was hosted by UMass Lowell's Career Services and Cooperative Education Center, which provides services including a four-year career-development program, interview coaching, résumé writing and business-etiquette training to UMass Lowell students.
